The Life and Legacy
Olandia Faison Sr. was born August 23, 1946 to the parentage of the late Willie C. Faison and Willie Lee Faison in Dodge County.
On Tuesday, February 9, 2021 Orlandia “Buddy” transitioned to his eternal rest at McRae Manor in McRae, Ga.
He worked at Jones Saw Mill of Milan, Ga during his early years. He was later employed at Hazlehurst Mills in 1967. There he worked for 45 years and retired in 2012.
Precious memories of Orlandia “Buddy” will forever linger in the hearts of his children: Leondress (Shundra) Faison of McRae, Ga; Orlandia Jr. (Pearl) Faison of Hazlehurst, Ga.; Brandia (Shawn) Wilcox of Milan, Ga; and Dee Dee (Jelandy) Rozier of Warner Robins, Ga.
He leaves several siblings to cherish his memory: C.W. Faison, Wylene Faison, and Lillie Jo Faison. Orlandia was preceded in death by Charlie C. Faison, Jimmy Faison, Emmanuel (Judy) Faison, Calvin Faison, Ada (Allen) Brooks, and Betty Jo Graham. He had two grandchildren which preceded him in death: Leondress H. Faison and Marquita Hunt.
Orlandia enjoyed hunting, was a huge sports fan, took tremendous pride in gardening, and loved being accompanied by his children and grandchildren. He was the first African American coach to win the Baseball and Football Championship in the Recreational League in McRae, Ga. Coaching his sons and others gave him a strong sense of pride and joy. Orlandia “Buddy”, truly enjoyed being a devoted supporter of his grandson Jay Faison.
