The Gift Of Life ...

Willie Brown Jr. was born on July 27, 1943 in Telfair County Georgia to the late Nona McCullough-Greathouse and the late Willie Brown. He attended school at Twin City High in McRae Ga.  Self-motivated and  blessed with the willingness to work hard , as a young teen he was known for his diligence as the "barefoot shoe shine boy" and his ability to be outstanding in field labor.

 

His Family…

Willie was united in holy matrimony to Lula Bell Hames on August 10, 1963 and to this union seven (7)  children was born . 

 

A Working Man…

In his adulthood he worked at Warren Cleaners  and  Dennis Cleaners. He was a mobile barber in the Helena community - A neighborhood support with his community gardens - and a community activist as President of The Warriors for Justice . Willie was also a truck driver for the Southern Cotton Oil / Golden Peanut  Company for many years where he retired in the year 2000.

 

His Faith…

The spirit of faith baptize him at an early age as a member of  The Greater  Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Helena GA.  He later moved his membership to Centilla Baptist Church in Helena GA under the leadership of Pastor William Jackson.  His devotion as a member of Centilla adorn him with the titles of Layman and Stewardship. During his challenging days God's grace kept him. Faithfully he would sit at the kitchen table reading his bible without distraction.  Praising the Lord was constant because his mercy is more. After submitting to an extended illness he accepted his crown of glory. Willie Brown Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

The Predeceased Love Ones ...

Two beloved sons, Terrence Brown Sr and Terry Brown Sr; A loving mother, Mrs. Nona McCullough-Greathouse; A reflective father, Mr. Willie Brown; three sisters, Marthalene (Woodrow) Stuckey, Alvonia Collins and Doris P. Little; three brothers: Gregory Lawton, Edwin Greathouse and Johnnie Lee Brown Sr.

 

He leaves To Cherish His Memory...

A loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Mother Lula Bell Brown, Helena GA ; 4 sons, Tyrone (Hope) Brown, Gregory Brown, Shawn Brown all of  Helena, GA. and Eric Brown of Atlanta GA; two daughters, Shirley Brown-Reese and Lavita Stewart-Wesley of Helena GA; one god daughter, Veronica Walker, Helena GA.
 

Brothers and Sisters ...

Ruth Southerland of McRae, GA , Carton Brown, Vivian Rease and Carlynn Radden of Atlanta GA , Arfrances Swain of Helena GA, Ronald (Alexena) Lawton of Scotland GA and Symeria Jones of Alamo, GA.


Continued blessings...

Willie Brown Jr. is survived by 21 grandchildren and 24 great- grandchildren; loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of long-time friends.


 

Howard Mortuary officially announces the passing of Mr. Willie Brown Jr of Helena, Ga. Mr. Brown passed away Tuesday morning at the Miller County Hospital in Colquitt,Ga.

A graveside service will be held Saturday September 12, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Centilla Baptist Church Cemetery in Accord,Ga.

Public viewing will begin Friday September 11 from 12 noon until 7pm.

Please continue to pray for his family and friends.

We, the Howard family find it an honor to serve this family in the time of their loss. Mr. Brown and the Brown family stood by us and up for us, as we went through our hard times of opening our facility in Helena. He is honored today and forever. His legacy will live on.
