Ms. Janice Harris Obituary

On April 21, 2019 Sister Janice Harris McRae departed this life at Meadow Memorial Hospital in Vidalia, Georgia.

 

Sis. Janice was born on a cold winter morning in the beautiful city of Crestview, Florida to the late Mr. Willie Harris, Jr. and Dorothy Jean McRae. She is the granddaughter of the late R. L. McRae and Lulu Jean McRae of Scotland, Georgia and the late Mr. Willie Harris Sr. and Leonia S. Harris of Scotland. She is also preceded in death by her brother John Timothy Harris.

 

In February of 1970, the Lord blessed Mr. Leroy and Gussie Jones with  this two year old daughter and a loving sister to Jerlean and Eva Jones into their life.

 

Sis. Janice earned her education in the Wheeler County School System. She loved school and her years from Headstart to High School, she only missed two days of school. She had Perfect Attendance every year but one. After high school, Janice decided to go to work to make a living. She has worked at Dairy Queen, Sara Lee, Huddle House, Nursing Home and manager of Travelers Inn in Jacksonville, Florida. She also worked as a private nurse and sitter.

 

Sis. Janice joined the Friendship Church of God in Christ at an early age where she has served in many capacities; assistant secretary, Junior Sunday School teacher, and began the church choir with her young siblings as members. She loved to sing and enjoyed singing with several other church choirs; Centennial Zion, Rockwell Youth choir and the

J. P. Ward District Choir.

 

She leaves to mourn her husband, James McRae of Wrightsville, Ga; Two brothers, Daniel (Mary Ann) Culver of Helena, Ga and Otis Bernard (Amy) Harris of Houston, Texas. One aunt, Lula Mae (Oscar) McRae of McRae. One uncle, Jackie (Brenda) McRae of Atlanta,Ga. Four beautiful God daughters, Tyleah “Star” Deeds, Markissia and Morgan Mullens and Java Reaves.

 

Janice will be sadly missed by her family, church, friends, pastor and first lady, God children, sister and brother-in-law, cousins and special friends.

 

Sis. Janice’s  sweet smile and happy face will be missed by all.
