Clara Mae Smith- Swasey, was born on March 3, 1945, to the late Dovit and Willie Bee Jordan. On Thursday, September 11, 2025, the Lord called her home to rest.
Clara was educated in the Telfair County School District. She worked at a local Clothing Factory where she learned how to sew.
Later she moved to Boynton Beach Florida and obtained a job at Dorsey Hall Nursing Home in West Palm Beach, where she worked in housekeeping. She also held a part-time job at the Salvation Army as a salesclerk. She loved talking and joking with everyone that came into the store and made many friends. Clara joined New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Boynton Beach, Florida.
In early 2005, Clara returned to Georgia and purchased a home in McRae. In February she joined Corinth CME Church. She was a member of the Telfair County Senior Citizen Center, where she entertained the other members with her hymns of old. She even played the drums at times. During her spare time, she put together puzzles, but most of all, Clara loved to go to thrift shops. She could spot a good deal anywhere.
