Charles Edward Williams affectionately known as “Papa” was born January 26th, 1960, to the lathe Madeline B. Williams and James Williams.
He was educated in the Jeff Davis County School System, graduating in 1978. Papa worked for Amoco Fabrics and Fibers until relocating to New York where he lived for more than 20 years in the Bronx and worked for Shearling Coats. He would later move to Triangle Virginia for 13 years where he worked as a horseman for Silver Eagle Stables where his love for horses grew into his passion. Papa Recently retired from Sliver Eagle Stables and moved back to Helena GA seven months ago to be with his family.
He joined Morgan Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where he served on the usher board and sang in the choir.
To know Papa was to love him. He was hilariously funny, always the life of the party. Papa loved his family, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed spending time with them, dancing, singing, and clowning around. Papa was a people person, who never met a stranger. He loved talking to people and would strike up a conversation with anybody. He was a simple man, never dwelling on fancy things. He loved old cars and trucks.
God called our Papa home on Saturday July 1st. He is Proceeded in death by his parents: Madeline & James Williams. Maternal grandparents: James Samuel Vann & Minnie Lee Vann. Three brothers: Larry Bann, Levon Vann, and Steve Williams.
Papa leaves to cherish his loving memories. One daughter: Maria Davis of Louisville Kentucky. One bonus daughter: Katrina Robinson of Alamo GA. One son: Kerry Williams (Tashia) of McRae GA. One bonus son: Rodney Horne (Ebony) of Alamo GA. Five grandchildren: Kerriunia Williams, K.J. Williams, Amari Davis, Isaiah Williams and Kavion Williams. Two brothers: Mr. Marion Vann (Ronnie) of Hazlehurst GA. and Mr. Willie “Greg” Vann (Renae) of Stone Mountain Ga. One sister: Tracy Sanders of Jacksonville FL. One Aunt: Elder Juanita Chambers of Atlanta GA. A host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends.
